Upcoming Enhancements to Waybill Validation for Single Carload Traffic Effective August 1, 2025

To improve the customer experience, reduce billing discrepancies and minimize service disruptions, we are implementing an initiative to enhance the accuracy and reliability of our billing processes.

Starting August 1, 2025, we will automate validation of waybills submitted for BNSF-originated single-carload shipments. Please review the following information and instructions to avoid potential penalties, shipment delays or service interruptions.

Steps for Customers to Take:
As part of the process, and to ensure uninterrupted service, we request that you do the following:

  • Submit complete and accurate billing information
  • Monitor all waybill-related alerts and notifications
  • Resolve flagged waybill issues promptly
